Reviewing the Webmaster Access show

The flight from Ft. Lauderdale to La Guardia (LGA) airport was at 5:10am. Yes, 5:10AM! No traffic getting to the airport and certainly no security lines. What a great Spirit Airlines flight. I took a bus to the city and I walked the three short city blocks from Grand Central Station. Believe it or not, I got to the W Hotel in midtown Manhattan, where the show was held, by 8:30am. Nothing started until 10am so I had time to check in, wash up, and relax.

Registration was simple. The staff was friendly, unstressed, and available to answer questions. The badge you wore had, on the back, the agenda. There was not rummaging through paperwork to learn what was upcoming. That was totally convenient, coming in handy throughout the show! At the bottom, I put in my suggestion on how I would like to see the Webmaster Access show improved…

The show was small, but very well focused. There was one room with eight large round tables where everyone gathered to discuss the selected topics, amongst ourselves. But those who were experts on the topics were present and if they offered services, they were there. The first morning, the session topics consisted of Hosting, Traffic Buys, and Content. Lunch was “on the house” and it was terrific, served buffet style in the hotel’s restaurant. A night there was a party where everyone gathered and had a great time. The next day, the session topics were Traffic Selling, Processing CMS & Tube Scripts.

My flight left at 7:45pm and even though the flight was delayed, being occupied at La Guardia airport is not difficult at all.

I think the experience could have been improved with the following:
PROBLEM: Once people sit down, they rarely move. And with social graces also taking over, leaving a table for another is uncomfortable. When people do not move around from table to table, everyone is basically stuck with the few at the table, exhausting the subject at hand;

SOLUTION: Speed Dating! When you arrive at the show, you have either a red or green dot on the badge. Every 15 or 20 minutes an announcement is made for either the RED or GREEN dot wearers to get up and change tables. Then the presenters get a chance to speak to everyone and if they are in a healthy conversation, they say “We will talk later, can I have your card?”.

I personally had the chance to speak to Segpay, CCbill, Epoch, Planet Payment, Njoy Now, Intense Cash, Inner Freak Productions, InterCash, Global Acces S.L., OC-3 Networks, InBox Everytime, WorldTravel Directions.com, AEBN, AdultDesign.com, MyGayCash.com, Oxeo, Crystal Payments, Naturo Max, GoldPerfect, shemuscle.com, PussyCash, F.U.B.A.R., and so many more…
